Autumn, Meljen's Designs

It is time for a new challenge at 613 Avenue Create!  The theme for the week is Anything Goes with the optional twist of Sights, Sounds, Taste of Autumn.  I love making fall cards!  The papers and colors are so fun to work with, and of course the stamps.  This is my second DT project I made for the 613 Avenue Create design team.  I used an image called Sweater Kid from Meljen's Designs and put him on a Z card.  Isn't he so stickin cute!?

This was watermarked before I changed my blog name.

Sweater Kid by Meljen's Designs
My papers came from my holiday stash basket so I am not sure who they are by.  The leaves are done with mulberry paper and are Cuddlebug dies and the pumpkin and flowers are Sizzix dies all run through my Bigshot.  He was colored up with my Copics- this was done before I switched to the Graph' It Markers. I just realized I forgot to add the white panel for the sentiment or message, oops.

613 Avenue Create Autumn Challenge

We have a new challenge starting today over at 613 Avenue Create and our optional twist this week is all about Autumn.  I love making autumn cards!  The papers are so pretty and I love the color combinations.  So I made two DT projects for you this week.  I will put them in seperate posts to avoid overly long postings.  The first I am going to share with you is done with images from Melonheadz Illustrations.  I've used two of her collections, Crazy Hair and also Fall Deluxe.  This was my very first Step Card and I have to say, I was blown away at how easy it was!  I am thinking of posting a quick tutorial here on my blog for all of you that think you couldn't make one.

Melonheadz Illustrations
So all my kids are colored up with my Graph' It Markers, except for their jeans.  Those are done with my denim blue prismacolor pencil and some OMS.  I just love the effect I can get with that pencil!  I am not going to list the markers I used since there are so many for this one but I do have them written down so if there is a combo you are interested in please contact me and I would be happy to share.  If you haven't tried these markers yet you really need to!  They blend out so easily and the color combos are so vibrant and true.  I am definently in love.
Ok, so I fussy cut most of the images- which hers are great for because they have a nice thick line and you don't lose the detail or effect of the image.  I punched the leaves from papers with different textures and inked them with distress inks.  The pumpkins are fussy cut from a fall glitter paper from my stash.  I think that is it.

Card Mania, Bows and Butterflies Challenge

It's the start of a new challenge at Card Mania today.  The theme this time is Butterflies and Bows and our sponsor is The Paper Shelter.  I looooove TPS!  They have so many cute images and papers and they're so fun to color up!  The image I used is Summer Holidays which you can get HERE,

Summer Holidays from The Paper Shelter

I really mixed it up this time with my coloring.  So I have found these new markers called Graph' It Markers and I am in love!  The only problem I have is I don't have enough of them yet! lol  At least with these markers I will be able to afford all the colors I need!  But this is the start of me making the big switch!  I have wanted to try some other markers but really didn't think I would find something I like MORE than my Copics, I was hoping to find something I would like just about as much.  Well I was totally surprised- in a good way for once.  So while I am waiting for them to get here I had to throw in a little bit of Copics to compensate for colors I don't have yet.  But then I also used my Prismacolor Pencils too for the towel and her hat and I went over the hair to add some texture but that was done with my GI markers first.  I am really loving the effect I can get by using my markers and pencils together!  If you haven't tried it yet you really should.  Don't be a marker snob ladies!
The paper used is from My Minds Eye, of course haha, I love MME, and the sentiment is too.  Ribbon and buttons from my stash, the vintage flower I ordered from 7 Kids College Fund but I can't remember who it is from.  She has little pearls in the center of the flowers, not sure if that is showing up or not.

Snow Fun, Dr. Digi's House of Stamps

This is the fun card I made using the image from Dr. Digi's  called Snow Fun.  I loved this image when I found it because I thought it would be perfect for a Christmas card for a boy.  It is such a funny image, gave me a chuckle.  Dr. Digi's House of Stamps is one of our sponsors over at 613 Avenue Create this week.  The challenge theme is Anything Goes without an optional twist this time.  I really struggled not to bling up the trees and snowflakes to keep it as masculine as possible.  I love to add bling!  I colored this digi with my Prismacolor pencils.

The DP I used is all from my christmas stash from last year.  The embellishments are cut with Sizzix dies.  The santa is a Cuddlebug embossing folder.  I brushed over it with Distress Ink and punched it out with a circle punch and then adhered it with pop dots to give the card some dimension.  I really wanted to keep this card fairly simple to be better appreciated by a young boy. The snowman's eyes and the puppy's nose are glossed with Glossy Accents.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Elf with Poppy Bloom, Aurora Wings

Its time for a new challenge at 613 Avenue Create and I am so excited to share my DT cards for this week with you!  The theme this week is Anything Goes.  Our sponsors this week are Aurora Wings and Dr. Digi's House of Stamps.  For my first card I used Elf With Poppy Bloom from Aurora Wings.  I made an easel card and colored her up with my Copics.

Elf With Poppy Bloom by Aurora Wings
The DP is from My Minds Eye and I used a Sizzix die for the flourishes. I wanted to keep all of the papers very neutral colors so the flowers would be the main focal point of the card.  I didn't want to use to many embellishments so nothing took away from the image.

I used sheer ribbon hand folded for the kickstand.  It's hard to tell how it is rolled from the picture but I secured each fold or roll with zots.  The Copic colors used are:
E11 E21 E00 E000 R20 E04
E37 E35 E53 E51 E50
R59 R29 R24 R17 R14 R11

Little Miss Muffet, Jr. Hatter Girls

I won the opportunity to be a Guest Designer for Little Miss Muffet's challenge blog this week and I have been SO excited to share my card with you all!  The theme for the challenge is Anything Goes, who doesn't love that theme ?!?  I have been dying to get my hands on some of these hatter girls images and when I got the invite I was so stoked ! But then I found I couldn't choose just one, I tried .  I love these little girlies, they remind me of my younger daughter because she and her friend actually wear hats like these.  When I was putting the images together it made me think of the little fashion magazines that come in the mail with the young models sporting the new fall fashion for the upcoming school year.  So my inspiration for the card was a fashion photo shoot but I think it came out giving more of a movie impression rather than a photo camera.  Oh well, its cute anyway.

Jr, Hatter Gemma, Kathrina, and Michelle from
Little Miss Muffet Stamps
These images are so versatile too, I am sure I will use them again and again just switching up the colors and background DP and they were a blast to color.  So you will be seeing them again.
The Hatter girls are colored mainly with my Copics but I used my Prismacolor pencils on their hats for a little more texture.  The film strips I made with white and black card stock, I punched the edges with my Zutter.  The flowers are a Tim Holtz Sizzix die.  The chipboard stickers are mounted onto black card stock and then fussy cut and are from DCWV.  The Copic colors I used from left to right are:
E11 E21 E00 E000 R20 E04
E29 E25 E21
W5 W3 W1
C3 C1 N0 Colorless Blender

Cutest summer card EVER!

I made this card for a challenge over at Bugaboo but I really made it for my mom.  When I saw the inspiration cards made by their DT and saw this piggy image I just had to have it!  Usually if I am going to join a challenge I wont use the exact same digis that are used for inspiration but this one.... well my mom loves pigs and she loves the beach and its just too stinkin cute! I mean, come on! Now I know my mom follows my blog but she better act surprised when she gets this card in the mail anyway!!

(her favorite color is purple)

why does it always look like it needs to be blended out more after you take a pic?? grr.
I used Glossy accents on the pig's glasses, the ant, beach ball, and the monkeys eyes.  I also used Wink of Stella on the sunglasses and Spicas on the umbrella, its not showing up in the picture.  I am not listing all of my color combos, there are too many, but if you have any questions please feel free to leave me a comment or send me a message.

I am entering this card into a few challenges but for now I am heading to the pool! After coloring up this image I just have to enjoy some sun before the summer is over.  I will update with a list of challenges below when I get back.

Update, challenges listed here:
Bugaboo Stamps- Photo Inspiration
4 Crafty Chicks- Anything Goes
The East Wind- Beach theme
